Surgery for Gum Disease
Periodontal gum surgery is needed to eliminate diseased pockets that remain around your teeth
following a non-surgical root planing procedure. If your periodontist sees unhealthy gum tissue which requires surgical treatment,
he sometimes prescribes gum and/or bone grafting, tissue regeneration (further removal of disease-causing bacteria), and/or additional pocket reduction. As we typically use local
anesthesia to assure your comfort during treatments, most of our patients usually feel only slight discomfort or pain afterwards.
Oral Health Maintenance & Care
We believe your
periodontal health should be achieved by the most cost-effective and least invasive means. Therefore it's important that your treatment is followed by sensible home care and regular professional cleaning programs. Without
proper maintenance and checkups, or if the patient's immune system becomes compromised (a poor state of health), periodontal disease can recur, thus requiring additional treatments and more expense.
